TVA Coaches’ Bio’s
Below are the court coaches that will be teaching lessons through The Volleyball Academy. They are listed alphabetically, each has a small bio of their volleyball background and strengths for the area of teaching lessons and age group preferred. To schedule a lesson or group of lessons, select the coach you prefer and email or call to set up your lesson time.

You can view her volleyball profile here.Teaching Philosophy:I believe in teaching the fundamentals correctly and efficiently so each player can maximize their speed, power, quickness and agility to enhance their performance in the skills of the game. I want the players to have fun while learning. My goal is to have athletes gain success through fun and hardwork.

Krista Barr

| VB Background: My volleyball career began at Lewiston High School where we won State in class D twice, and were State Runners-up once in the 4 years I played. I moved on to play at the collegiate level at Bellevue University where we were a top 25 team and finished 5th at Nationals in 2002. After finishing my playing career at BU, I became an assistant coach where I stayed for 2 years. I began coaching club while I was in college, and began at the 13 and under level. Over the time I have been coaching club, I have taken several teams to Jr. Nationals, with one team finishing 9th. I have coached 13′s, 15′s, 16′s, and 17′s through River City Jrs. Currently, I am the Assistant Director of TVA, and have been giving lessons, working camps, and clinics since 2006.
Teaching Philosophy:I believe in teaching a strong foundation of fundamentals and correct body movements to maximize the efficiency of the athlete. It’s important to build on the basics as well as continue to improve the fundamentals while providing a fun learning environment.

| VB Background: I have been playing volleyball for most of my life. I’ve played club volleyball for River City Juniors for 9 years, played at Marian High School for 4 years and recently graduated from Creighton University where I was a four-year starting setter. I have coached the 14′s and 18′s teams for the River City Juniors. I have been active in coaching volleyball camps for The Volleyball Academy, Creighton University and Marian High School. I am currently the Junior Varsity coach at Papillion-Lavista High School.Teaching
Philosophy: I believe in teaching, maintaining and building upon the basics in volleyball that help players continually improve their skills.
Teaching strengths: Setting, defense, rightside/leftside

| VB Background:I have recently graduated from Creighton University, where I played volleyball for four years as a libero, defensive specialist and back-up setter. During this time, Creighton experienced record breaking successful seasons. My high school career was played Marian and the three seasons I was on varsity, we went to the state tournament. My senior year I was a co-captain and named honorable mention all-state. My club career consisted of playing as a libero for six seasons for River City Juniors. One of the highlights of my last season included playing in the American Championship match at Nationals. I have six years of experience coaching club for River City Juniors. During this time, I have coached the 12′s, 13′s, 14′s and 17′s age groups. I have also coached summer camps for both The Volleyball Academy and Creighton University. I’m currently the assistant varsity coach for Marian High School’s volleyball team.
Teaching Philosophy: Keep it fun! Use positive reinforcement to teach fundamentals that include specific and detail-oriented techniques that allow players to improve and get them to the next level.Teaching strengths: Defensive specialists, liberos and setters.

| VB Background:I have been coaching club volleyball with the River City Juniors for six years and helped with summer, fall and winter camps for TVA.

| VB Background: I have ten years of experience coaching club, from ages 13-16. I have 5 years of previous experience in helping with volleyball camps at Gross High and Bellevue University. I played volleyball for four years at Gross High School, club volleyball for four years and for four years at Bellevue University, helping our team to a 5th place finish at Nationals in 2000. I continue to play competitively for an adult USAV women’s team. I also play sand and grass doubles
